First race of the year - the Maiden and Perston club races. Good conditions, a firm course with the usual bog below the playground.
In the Maiden race, the race for those who have never won a competitive race before, Nick Cox ran a super-quick 8:11, crossing the line one second ahead of Denny Adamson and three seconds ahead of Connor Elsworth.Oscar Thompson won the handicap, beating his estimated time by 1:27.
In the Perston Memorial, Jacob Kilmister took the lead from Simon Angus at the last corner, finishing 2 seconds ahead in 8:04. Aaron Lynch was third, another second behind Simon. Amy McHardy was first female across the line, just ahead of Deb Lynch. David Cook won the handicap, running 45 seconds faster than his estimated time.
