Maiden and Perston, Grenada North Park Saturday, 13 April 2024
Updated 18 May 2024.
From Joe, the handicapper:
Cracking work in the rain Saturday folks.
The course was a bit quicker / shorter than last year. I made it equivalent to running 2km on the road.
In the Maiden Race, Bernard Stellard took out the race on the line in a nippy 6:23 - roughly equivalent to a 16:52 5km. Ella Egan was first female and beat her handicap by the greatest margin - sharing the Maiden handicap trophy with Isabella Van Dorp. Bernard, Ella and Isabella will be eligible for the Perston Race next year.
In the Perston Race, Desmond Reddy took the win on the line in 5:55 with Logan Hopfler snapping at his heels in 5:59. Juliet Moorhead was first female. Desmond and Logan look to be in sub-16 minute 5km shape going into the season. Emma Lowden beat her handicap by the greatest margin and will receive the Perston Handicap trophy. The handicaps don't seem to be in bad shape - a few outliers due to those pesky kids getting stronger. There might have also been a bit of slow-timing to bank a decent handicap for the season (I see you!)
Note the walkers were included in the Maiden and Perston results.
