The Grand Memorial is a traditional-style cross country race held on rugged farmland and features eight stream crossings per 2km lap.
The under 13s run a one lap scratch race (Race 1); the senior and masters women, and junior men and women run a two lap handicap race; and the senior and masters men run a four lap open handicap race. The handicap races are run simultaneously (Race 2).
This year the weather was ideal - cloudless and windless, with the wind earlier in the week having dried out the ground somewhat.
There were plenty of trophies up for grabs in this event, for both line honours and fastest times (scratch winners). This year featured our scratch runner (first runner off with a handicap of 0:00), Terry Kurukaanga, running through to win the race.
