Event results
The Grand Memorial is a super-traditional cross country race held on rough farm land in Ohariu Valley. The event is based on a 2km lap which has numerous stream crossings and usually plenty of mud.
This year it was postponed to November due to a storm on the original date -- this meant numbers were way down on usual. The conditions were fast and dry but the course was slightly long.
The main event is an open handicap race: competitors start at different times, based on their estimated times for the event. If everyone runs their estimated times then everyone will cross the line together; this is never the case so the winner is the competitor who beats their estimated time the most. In this event, five races across two distances all run together - the walkers, junior women, junior men, open women (SW+MW) and open men (SM+MM).

- Race 1: Boys & Girls under 10 scratch race (1km)
- Race 2: Boys and Girls under 14 scratch race (2km)
- Race 3:
- 4km open handicap: Open women (senior and masters women), junior women, junior men, walkers (though the women seemed to mostly run 8km this year)
- 8km open handicap: Open men (senior and masters men)
In the results for Race 3 below, the 'time' result is the finishing time on the clock, which started when the scratch (first) runner/walker started, and the handicap time is their starting time on the clock. The scratch time and place are the runner/walker's actual running/walking time.
