The weather conditions were almost ideal for the 2nd Twilight 5k, co-run with the 18th Lifestyle Sports Waterfront 5k. The northerly wind during the afternoon turned to a light southerly by race time, resulting in a lot of Series Personal Bests for the 114 keen runners and walkers. Although the nice weather saw lots of pedestrians walking home from work, creating some obstacles for competitors.
Leading everyone home was Sean McCrudden with an excellent time of 16min 7sec. Michael Beaumont was second, producing another great SPB of 16.24. Rebecca Speirs had her first win of the series, winning the women's race with a time of 21min 22sec. Tim Dutton (28.29) recorded another win in the men's walk, with Leeane Palmer (35.04) first in the women's walk.
And remember we have a participation competition going. The competition will reward the people that complete the most races in the 15 weeks from 14 September 2010 to 21 December 2010. So keep turning up!
A big thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (rolysmith2@hotmail.com). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
