Event results
The weather was appalling which probably put a few people off turning up to the event. Those hardy souls who did however were treated to one of the closest contests in Perston Baton history with the first four teams finishing just over a minute apart.
Because of the weather there was very little in the way of warming up (venturing out into the weather would only have succeeded in making you colder) and people were booted out into the elements just as their team mate came into the last 50 metres. The atmosphere under the shelter was awesome and the support for those out running and walking was just what was needed for cold and tired runners.
As usual for this event, things were a bit confused as different teams ran their members in different orders, but by the start of the final lap it became clear that things would be close. In the end it was Bex Jenkins, with the fastest one lap time, who held out her mother to win the day for the "O3" team. The next three teams finished within a minute and five seconds with the last team another three minutes behind.
