Bays Relay, Miramar Peninsular Saturday, 14 August 2010

Olympic had 19 teams (including 10 junior teams) running this year, a record turnout for the club for the second year in a row.

The weather (well, the wind actually) plays a very important role in this race. This year the conditions were warmish with a dying northerly – great racing conditions.

The stand out performance was the junior women's team, winning their race – the club's first Bays Relay win since the masters men won in 2002. Reports have this as an outstanding race between Olympic, Wellington and Scottish with the Olympic girls not taking the lead till the fourth lap.

Juan, who escorted one of the boys' teams around the course on foot, filed a race report in which he complained about being left behind at each transition because he couldn't keep up with the sprint finishes – and the sprint starts!
