Event results
The relay, normally the climax of the year, returned to Feilding this year. Unfortunately Olympic team numbers were down after the chaotic season we have had, which caused both competition and personal disruptions at all levels. We had two long-course (7 laps) teams, both mixed grade (M30 and SW), as well as junior men, junior women, open masters 60, walkers and a social team.
Our Junior Women (Women U20) team were at full strength and won their 10-team race. At the first changeover they were in second place, just 2 seconds behind; they took the lead in lap 2 then maintained a two to three minute margin from lap 3 through to the end of the race. Three of the team ran fastest lap times; the others were second or third fastest. What an awesome and inspiring effort!
