Long course: Seniors, masters - 8 laps, 76.3km total
Short course: Juniors, composite, open masters 60+ - 5 laps, 40.4km

Non-club athletes: $5 for online pre-entry by 8pm Thursday prior to the meet (to be paid on the day of competition) or $10 on the day at least 30 minutes before the scheduled event start time.

Meet at 1.45pm ready to run or walk at 2pm.

Different packs to suit all abilities, from 30 minute runs at an easy pace to over an hour at 4min/km pace (or faster). Runs may take you off-road. Be prepared for all weather conditions.

Organised by Victoria University Harriers

Simplistically elegant: you race up, you race back down.
Calves will burn, lungs will cry for air, that voice will say stop, don’t look up, the turnaround can’t be far now, surely?
Then brain off, legs on, knees will be hammered, quads will burn, you’ll fly, fall, roll your way back to whence you began.
So DO NOT enter, it’s far too dangerous.


SUMMIT 1- Johnston’s Hill, Karori – Thursday 17th October, 7:00pm
Start at end of Parkvale Rd.

SUMMIT 2 - Mt. Victoria, Town Belt – Thursday 31st October, 7:00pm
Start in park off Pirie Street by bus tunnel entrance.

SUMMIT 3 - Mt. Kaukau, Ngaio – Thursday 14th November, 7:00pm
Start Awarua St, bottom of Bell’s Track.

SUMMIT 4 - Towai # 8208, Lower Hutt – Thursday 28th Nov, 7:00pm
Start Te Whiti Park, White Lines East, Waiwhetu.

SUMMIT 5 - Belmont Trig – Thursday 12th December, 7:00pm
Start Stratton St road end, outside Ranger’s office.

SUMMIT 6 - British Peak, nr. Makara –Thursday 19th December, 7:00pm
Start Chartwell Substation, Chartwell Drive.

Positions will be recorded from the summit. Times and positions recorded at the finish. Park vehicles responsibly and considerately, some of the road ends are residential and/or confined, carpool if possible.

10km road race and walk (incorporating the Wellington Masters 10km championships) and 5km road race and walk (non-championship event)

START TIMES: Walkers 9.15am – Runners 9.45am

START/FINISH: Outside Sacred Heart College in Bellevue Road.

RACE HEADQUARTERS: Huia Indoor Swimming Pool, Lower Hutt – Entries will be taken on race day at the start area outside Sacred Heart College.

COURSE: The race starts outside Sacred Heart College, travels down Bellevue Road, turn left into Ludlum Crescent, then into Puriri Street along to the end, then left into Pohutakawa Street and continue along past the Waterloo Interchange into Oxford Terrace – turn at the cone and retrace course back to start/finish at Sacred Heart College.
5km turn will be around the vicinity of the Waterloo Interchange – turn at the cone and retrace course back to start/finish at Sacred Heart College.

SHOWERS: will be available at the pool – free of charge.

REFRESHMENTS: Tea and Coffee will be available after the race in a meeting room upstairs at the pool also used by Hutt Valley Marathon Clinic, which has kindly agreed to act as host for the race. Lunch will NOT be available. Tea and Coffee with light refreshments will be covered by your race entry fee.

PRIZEGIVING: Will take place in the meeting room at the Huia Pool with each 5-year age group being recognised.

*CERTIFICATES: Will be posted out after the event to all place-getters in each 5-year age group.

ENTRIES: For this event entries (runners & walkers) will be received from both members of New Zealand Masters Athletics and non-members provided that they meet the minimum age requirements:

MEN: Pre Master - 30 years of age on 20/10/2013
Master - 35 years of age on 20/10/2013

WOMEN: Pre Master - 30 years of age on 20/10/2013

ENTRY FEE:
10km: Member of WMA - $10 no late entry fee is payable.

Saturday, 9 Nov 2013, 08:00 to 11:00: Rimutaka Rail Trail Run and Walk, Rimutaka Incline

This is a fun run & walk over the Rimutaka Rail trail through the Rimutaka Ranges. All courses are predominately off-road. The rail trail rises from 254m above sea level at the start, along a steady gradient of less than 1 in 40 until the bridge at Ladle Bend and then continues on to the summit at 348m above sea level. This is a scenic and historic route that can be negotiated by any reasonably fit person.

The finish is at the same place as the start.

21km, 14km and 7km options.
