This year there are five events in the kids cross country series:

  • Sunday 17 May: Karori Park 
  • Sunday 7 June: Trentham Memorial Park
  • Sunday 26 July: Sladden Park, Petone
  • Sunday 16 August: Grenada North Park
  • Sunday 5 September: WHAC clubrooms, Mt Victoria

2014 details (2015 details tba):

9:30am - On the day registrations and race bibs available to collect. Enter at least 7 days prior for a personalised race bib
9:45am - Course open for walk around
10:00am - Guided walk around course
10:30am - Year 1 Boys and Girls Race (approx 800m)
10:45am - Year 2 Boys and Girls Race (approx 800m)
11:00am - Year 3 Boys and Girls Race (approx 1km to 1.5km)
11:15am - Year 4 Boys and Girls Race (approx 1km to 1.5km)
11:30am - Year 5 Boys and Girls Race (approx 2km to 2.5km)
11:45am - Year 6 Boys and Girls Race (approx 2km to 2.5km)

Please note: times can change on the day with races able to run up to 30 minutes earlier than advertised (only in adverse weather conditions if we need to rush it through). We encourage you to enter online. Enter one event, or all five! It's a great way to keep fit over the winter months, so come along have some fun. The cost is $7 per person per event. You can enter on the day, but if you pre enter at least seven days before each event you will have your own personalised race bib on the day. There are individual and team awards. You can get your friends together to form a team. 3 or 4 per team (top 3 in the team count). Individual placings count towards team points. Each team member must enter as an individual too. Teams but be entered online or before 10am on the day.

Medals and Awards

Medals for top 3 individuals in each race for each year group.

Certificates for top 3 teams in each race. (Children can run up a grade if they want to make up a team with older age groups, i.e. a year 2 can run in the year 3 race and be part of a year 3 team)

Please note: the team awards will be presented at the following event as we will organise personalised certificates following the event they competed in. Medals for overall series top 3 individuals and teams (based on 3 best placings over the first 4 events). These will be awarded at the final event.

The counting teams are 6 for senior men, 4 for all other grades.

1.00pm: Open Women, Masters Women 35+, Masters Women 50+, Masters Men 60+ (6 km)
1.30pm: Men Under 20, Women Under 20, Men Under 18, Women Under 18, Boys/Girls Under 15 (4 km)
2.00pm: Boys Under 11, Girls Under 11 (2 km)
2.15pm: Boys Under 13, Girls Under 13 (3 km)
2.30pm: Boys Under 9, Girls Under 9 (1 km)
2.45pm: Open Men, Masters Men 40+, Masters Men 50+ (8 km)

No walking event this year.

Timing chips and correct uniforms must be worn. Temporary timing chips are available on the day for registered club members and only before 12:30pm ($20 with $10 refund on return)

Athletes wishing to run above grade must inform the race director by email on jbaron@paradise.net.nz by 5pm on June 9th.

Sunday, 28 Jun 2015: Wainuiomata Classic/Wellington Mountain Running Championships, Parkway Road, Wainuiomata

2015 details:

The Championships will take place on the hills between Wainuiomata and Lower Hutt City up above the Wainuiomata Hill Road. This is the same location that was used for the 2013 NZ Mountain Run Championships. (Similar course but the men don't have the Te Whiti firebreak.)

Races for Women, Masters Women, Men, Masters Men and College Aged runners.

Medals and spot prizes up for grabs.

Individuals enter on-line or on the day - $15 online entry or $20 entry on the day.

College students can enter a team through their school or show up on the day to enter - $5 only.

Annual club mid-winter trip.

Saturday races, Saturday night club dinner, Sunday morning group runs. Not to be missed!

Registered & non Registered runners and walkers all welcome. A great family weekend event.

Road race and walk for registered masters athletes

  • Road Race: 5 laps = 8 km – Start 11.00 am 
  • Race Walk: 4 laps = 6.4 km – Start 10.45 am

Start and finish: Is in Kipling Street.  The roads are NOT closed to traffic.

Prizes:  

  • Prizes will be awarded to the first place runner in each age group plus additional prizes where warranted. 
  • Prizes for first two men and women in race walk plus additional prizes where warranted. 
  • Prizes for the first 3 Club teams  (2 running teams and 1 walking team.)  

Teams:

  • Running – Four to a team with at least one woman. 
  • Walking – Three to a team (mixed team). 
  • A number of Spot Prizes will be drawn on the day.

Entries:

  • Entry Fee: $15.00 Non-members:  $20.00 
  • No late entry fee payable.

Athletics Wellington Cross Country Championships plus road walk.

NOTE: Incorporates 2015 Olympic Club champs; For this reason our age group cups for 9 and under, 11 and under, 13 and under and 15 and under will be awarded to under 9 etc. 

Podium & photo opportunity presentations for our club trophy winners along with cash spot prizes and the ever popular chocolate fish! 

Club champs handicap prize winners will be awarded at end of year prize giving.

2015 details : This course and times are the same as the 2012 through 2014.

Note races and time changed in 2013, with a M60 and non-championship SM grade were introduced.

Race 1: 1:00pm Masters Men (40+, 50+, 60+, SM non-champ) (8km - 4 x 2km) Open Women (8km - 4 x 2km)
Race 2: 1:40pm Women U18 (4km - 2 x 2km) Masters women (35+, 50+) (6km - 3 x 2km) Women U20 (6km - 3 x 2km) Men U18 (6km - 3 x 2km)
Race 3: 2:10pm Men U20 (8km - 4 x 2.0km) Open Men (12km - 6 x 2.0km)

Medals: Centre medals are awarded for the first 3 Wellington centre athletes in each grade. NOTE: This is an interclub event so uniform is required and you must wear your timing chip.
