A very strong northerly made for unpleasant racing conditions in the first race in the Twilight 5k Series/16th
race in the Lifestyle Sports Waterfront 5k series, with the total number of
competitors dipping under 100.
Leading everyone home was Grant McLean with a time of 16min 20sec, an impressive time given the wind. Jason Waite was second with Michael Beaumont having another excellent run for 3rd place. Steph Pearson returned to the series, and managed to dip under 20min with a time of 19.56 to win the women's race. Also congratulations to Chris Wanick who completed his 5km on crutches. Philip (30.43) and Terri (32.22) Grimmett made it a family double in the walking races.
And remember we have a participation competition going. The competition will reward the people that complete the most races in the 15 weeks from 14 September 2010 to 21 December 2010. So keep turning up!
A big thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (rolysmith2@hotmail.com). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
