In summer, children from age 5 to 14 can participate in our children’s athletics programme to help develop their running, jumping and throwing skills.
AW Senior Open Twilight Track & Field Meeting #4
Athletics Wellington organises six Interclub track & field meets each season for children aged 7-15 years (age as at 31 December in the year that the season commences). A Full season programme for all Junior Interclubs meeting and Championship dates is available below. Children compete in their club uniform and gain points that count towards Interclub trophies that are awarded at the end of the season.
Our Juniors club manages this.

The 2027 NZ Short Trail Championships will now be integrated into the 42km trail marathon event at the Xterra Festival in Wellington on Sat 27 Feb 2027.

2027 Athletics Wellington Junior Championships Day 1 & Day 2 – Newtown Park
The programme for Day 1 (7 Mar 2027) and Day 2 (21 Mar 2027) will be posted when available.
These championships are for Grade 7 – 14 athletes
