A course for race starter officials.
Details:
In the light of the new IAAF starting procedures, we need to retrain all officials, and any other volunteers who act as starters.
You will have noticed from the Olympics that the starts went off more quickly, and with many fewer “breaks” - and that those there were, were quite blatant!
We have confirmed details for a Wellington based starters course to be held at Lower Hutt on Sunday the 18th of November. The course will be presented by one of New Zealand's most highly qualified starters, Wendy Fox- Turnbull. Timetable for the day is set out below.
The course is open to all with an interest: centre officials, club officials and college officials.
Anyone who wants to attend should email Jim McIlroy @ Jim.Mcilroy@publictrust.co.nz
Starters Course - Sunday 18 November, Hutt Rec, Lower Hutt
9.30 Introductions
9.40 Talk and discussion about starting
What makes a good starter? etc

11.15pm Positioning on track
12. 30pm Lunch
1.00 pm Practice Starting at 100m then 200m if time
