Saturday, 28 Nov 2015, 14:00 to 16:30: Black programme [athletics], Newtown Park

Black and gold meets are for all age groups from college age and above. The grades are Masters, Senior, Junior (U20), Youth (U18) and Under 16. Black and Gold programmes will normally cater for athletes from grade 14 up in terms of throwing implement weights, hurdle heights etc. However once the interprovincial training squads are formed we will cater for grade 12 up for any athlete wishing to gain more competition.

If you are a registered member of a club it's free to compete if you pre enter online (as clubs contribute to the bulk funding of Newtown Park). You must enter by 8pm the Thursday prior to each Saturday meet. If you enter on the day you pay $5 at the registration desk one hour prior to your event start time.

1.45pm Sprint Hurdles
2.00pm Pole Vault
2.05pm 800m
2.30pm 100m, Shot Put
2.50pm 3000m Track Walk
3.25pm 400m, Triple Jump
3.40pm 3000m/5000m, Javelin
4.15pm 200m

Saturday, 28 Nov 2015: Summer run/walk from the Prossers', Churton Park

Barry and Barbara are celebrating Barry's birthday starting with a walk or run from their place at the usual time and then merging into a BBQ. There should be plenty of eats there, but if you want to stay on bring a few drinks -- and a towel if you want to freshen up after the run.

This week we have a run around the coast at Titahi Bay.  It is a top spot  -- meet in the carpark at the rowing club on the lagoon just before you turn into Titahi Bay.    

 

"...afterwards (for those who wish to) we will be going back to our place at 3 Marua Place, Ranui Heights, Porirua, for a few drinks and nibbles. Later that evening for those who want to hang around there will be a few more drinks and a BBQ on offer as a birthday celebration (mine) and that will end when everybody leaves. Cheers Miles"

He has finally unpacked, brought a lawnmower, blown a fuse and feels settled in, so it’s time to celebrate. 

To kick off the house warming he's hosting Olympic Harriers summer pack run/walk from his new pad.  If you’re feeling athletic come along for 2pm for the run otherwise drop in from 4pm. The plan is it’s a BYO drinks BBQ and bring a plate and aim to eat around 6:30 – 7pm.

Saturday, 19 Dec 2015: Scottish Night of Miles, Newtown Park

A mix of children's, senior and junior races, shot put, long jump fun social events and serious 'elite' races. Highlights include the mile races which are only rarely raced these days. The mile races including elite men's and women's races and an all-comers mile that anyone can participate in (including Father Christmas).

New for this year: a barbecue and a 4x100m relay.

Entry is a $5 donation to the Wellington Neonatal Trust which helps families at the time of birth.

The run has a bit of climbing in it - with views back across the harbour - but pretty easy otherwise. About 10km, with options for walkers to nip back sooner if they want to.
