Talking to Tomas Bridgeman before the event I noted that the conditions were pretty good for racing, there was a bit of a southerly breeze but it wasn't too strong. Tomas agreed that the conditions were ideal for a PB, working a bit into the wind going out and letting it help you home. How prophetic this was to be.
It was Tomas who headed the field of 99 runners home, and yes it was a PB. He completed the course in 16:18 with a good lead over Jason Theobald (16:54) and Ash Thyne (17:39). Gabby O'Rourke led the women home in 17:48 followed by Hinano Sefesi (18:58) and Michelle Van Looy (20:14). The only two walkers in the field today were Daphne Jones (36:56) and John Hines (38:28).
Thanks to the Olympic Harriers team of Tineke, Andrea, Geraldine, Ele, Rob, Graeme, Grant, Murray and Mark for officiating.
We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks. Spread the word around your friends and workmates. Issue a few challenges and then enjoy some post race analysis over a beer.
