Celebrate the season 21 Sep 2016.

Some of us will be working up a sweat in Rarotonga preparing for the race around the island, but for those enjoying spring in Wellington there is a regular club day.


Perston Baton Relay

Just like last year, one of the finishes of the season saw Martin McCrudden edge Trent Corbett in the club race finale at Karori park.  Also like last year (and the two years before) it was a "soft" or "atmospheric" day. Winning captain Terry Kurukaanga bagged his second relay win in as many weeks having also taken out the Philp Shield.  Interviewed after the race Terry said "It was an all round effort from the team, with the first members laying a base like one of Aunt Jo's stodgy steam puds, then Dane Atmore-Jones rising to the challenge to move us into first place, and the others bringing it home.  I think Brian was pleased."  http://www.olympicharriers.nz/results/


Missed results from the Pelorus run...

Apologies for missing a whole family last week:  Barbara Jennings 10km, Nathan Butchard 5km (1st 9-10 year old boy age group), Jake Butchard 5km (5th open men)

 

Prizegiving, Tawa Football/Softball Club, Saturday 8 October, 6pm 

A different venue and time from last year but both junior and senior members will be together to celebrate the season. Things will get underway at 6pm, with pizza put on by the Club to share afterwards.  People of all ages are welcome to stay on longer with hot meats, buns and salads after the pizza, and a cash bar operating from 7:30.  There is a rumour that there will be music and perhaps even some dance moves from Rob later in the evening.  

 

Masters Wellington events

For a chill vibe that only those of a certain age can appreciate the Wellington masters events are hard to beat.  They are rounding out the season with a couple more get-togethers. http://www.wellingtonmastersathletics.org.nz/events.html

Rimutaka Rail Trail Run & Walk 21km, 14km & 7km, 12 November

Trentham are promoting their rail trail event, and this year have a new Team Challenge (details on website).  A great target to help gear up for those longer summer runs.  Full event information is available on our website along with online entry (which is open) www.trenthamunited.co.nz/rimutaka.html
