Great running conditions tonight with just a light southerly to take the edge off the heat. The foot traffic on the course was predictably busy which again hindered a few people but still didn't prevent some personal bests for some of you. This was the 5th of the Olympic Twilight 5k runs, offered in conjunction with the Brooks Waterfront 5k series, and was a slightly different course tonight as we adjusted the turn around cone to compensate for the containers you had to go around on the course.
Matt Dravitzki, with his first 5k in the series, was first runner home in a very quick 15:27 more than 1/2 a minute ahead of the next finisher. Nyla Carroll lead the women home in sight of the 17 min mark with 17:09. Amongst the walkers, consistent first place getters were Tim Dutton with 28:41 and Terri Grimmett first woman with 31:12. Good to see the walkers field was up to 11 this week.
Also it was good to see 9 Olympic members finishing tonight with Steve Bligh, Calvin Standrill and Colleen Singleton all achieving best times for the 5k series. Well done.
We hope you enjoyed the event and we hope we will see you for our 6th event in two weeks on the 16th February.
