Congratulations to the Grade 12/13 Wellington athletics team who won the Interprovincials in Hastings over the Easter weekend. It’s the third year in a row that Wellington has won. This year the team scored 120,821 points which is the most ever for Wellington, and the most points by any team since 2001. Wellington has a large group of talented young athletes and a very committed group of coaches who give up so much of their time to help them achieve their goals.
A big thanks to all the coaches and managers who have been involved this season, from the IP Training Squad through to the coaches and managers who travelled away with the team for the big event.
Willy Szeto, Rod Plimmer, Amanda Goldsmith, Nga Holmes, Mark Harris, Andrea Lambert, Mike Ritchie, Juan McDonald, Shaka Sola, John Quinn and David Lewis all contributed to the success with their support of the IP Training Squad. And then there were many other coaches who continue to work week in and week out with their club athletes and peaked them all brilliantly for the interprovincials. Thanks to all of you!
Thanks to our awesome athletes who made the weekend away such a highlight for all the coaches and managers.
And finally a huge thanks to the coaching/management team of Nga Holmes, Amanda Goldsmith, Charlie Nairne, Rama Smith, Andrew Cooper, Simon England and Juan McDonald. And thanks also to Vaughan Oates and Willy Szeto who travelled to Hastings as officials for the event. We all worked well together so here’s hoping everyone’s back again next year.
