Juan's event report: I would like to congratulate all our Olympic athletes who competed at the Inter-Regionals last Thursday in Nelson. This is only the second time Wellington have won the shield in its nine year history. I would like to praise the efforts of all our Olympic athletes who gave it everything during the race and then still finding something extra for the sprint to the finish line. All the hard training has paid off and they should be very proud of their achievements as this is the hardest junior rep team to get into. It was a great day in Nelson, warm and sunny and a spectator friendly course where you could see most of the race. The Wellington team lead the way with both racing and chanting and their behaviour was outstanding. I would like to thank all the parents who assisted with the trip and to Nick Julian who entertained and organized activities for the kids. Next year the Inter-Regionals will be held at Hamner Springs so I would like to see even more Olympic kids competing.
