Great Lake Relay 7 Mar 2005.
Olympic upset at lake relay.
One of the big upsets in NZ running took place in this years 160km Round Taupo relay. The 'Blighs Bounty' team containing olympic members Chris speakman, Fiona Alcock, Mike Wakelin, Sheryne Beeby, Steve Bligh, Dave McIlwraith and Miles Coverdale stormed around in 11hrs 15 mins putting away in the process the famous 'Roosters Racing Team' also loaded with Olympic talent and boasting close to 500 years of experience. The Roosters coming home in 21st place in 11hrs 59mins.
400 teams took part in this great event........
