Wakelin Wins Again 27 Sep 2004.

A beautiful Wellington day greeted runners in this years pelorous trust 1/2, 10 and 5km road races.leading the way as always was olympics Mike Wakelin fresh from his mountain running feats.

Mike posted his fastest ever 1/2 marathon time coming in under 70 mins for the first time in 1:09:57, Mike is undefeated over that distance this year and plans to feature in a few more before the year is out.

5th woman home was Fiona Alcock last years winner backing up from her hard race the day before in Carterton's road relays, also backing up was Sheryne Beeby second woman home in the 10km in 44:53 a pb to boot.

Seen out on the course were Dave McIlwraith, Steve Tait, Kevin Mitchell, Melissa Carr,Tim Dravitzki and Peter Hanson making sure Olympics colours were once again to the fore.
