World Mountain Running Trophy 29 Aug 2004.
From Mike Wakelin in Italy:
Most of the NZ team to the world mt trophy flew in to turin on monday 23rd after a day and half of constant travelling, and caught up with those that left earlier.
A few niggles and sniffles surfacing but were settling in ok.
The race is at Sauze d'oulx in the alps between Turin and Lyon, [www.wmrt2004.org]. Its looking pretty big, nice scenic mountain village with cobbled streets, ski trails, forests and some surprising downhill thrown in (in an uphill year).
The town's at 1300m asl (equivalent to somewhere between the chateaux and the top of the bruce) not excessive but by the top of the course 1000m higher the airs thinner and chilly.
The masters (5 men, 1 women) will be racing this weekend. The rest the next weekend.
catch you later.
Mike
The 2005 World Mountain Running Trophy will be held in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. Information about the 2005 event is now available at the official event web site:
