Mike Wakelin wins at the Vosseler 24 May 2004.

Photo: Rowan Greig Saturday was another good day on the Mountains for Olympic Harriers. This time it was closer to home and Mount Victoria for this years running of the Vosseler Shield.

The club fielded a team of 74 runners the largest for some time and it payed off. Olympic placed 2nd Club overall with 5977 points behind Wellington Harriers the host club with 6203.

Mike Wakelin took to the mountain to try once again to take out senior mens event and this year was his year! Mike won the senior mens race by some 33 seconds (37:46) from a class field including Alistair Snowden 2nd (38:13); James Coubrough, 3rd (38:28). Olympics Cool Junior Team

Other notable Olympic performances include a 1st placing for Nathan Sheppard in the Boys 11 and under; 2nd for Michael Royfee Boys 13 and under; 3rd for Lachlan Rusbridge in the same race.

The Juniors made up a large proportion of the clubs representation numbering some 29 members.
