Pack run/walk from the Clubrooms, Sat 15 August, 1:45pm

Been some nice crisp clear days but it might be a bit claggy on Saturday.  Never mind, it just means the get together afterwards will be all the more appreciated.

 

Murray's Funeral

I was not able to attend, but by all accounts it was a moving ceremony where Murray's contibution to so many people's lives was recognised.  There was a smart turnout from Olympic, and nice to see the wider running community paying respects too with the start of each race in the Bays Relay having a word or two to remember him.

 

Kids Cross Country Series event , Sun 16 August, Grenada North Park

Open to all from pre school through to year 8s. $7 to enter at www.athleticshub.co.nz 
This is Olympic's turn to host, so we will need helpers.  Can people please contact Rama if they're able to help (rama@athleticswellington.org.nz) in any of the following areas

• Baking
• BBQ
• Registration
• Marshalling
• Setting up the course

As you can see, lots of volunteers needed so we really need people to put their hand up.  It's a great fundraiser for our club.

 

Wellington Road Champs and Club Road Champs - next on the list  - Saturday 22 August in Wainuiomata

Doubles as both Wellington Champs **and** Club Champs.  We are going to have medals again for the road champs (like we did for cross country), but we are going to hand these out at the Philip Shield (club event) on Saturday 12 September with an afternoon tea after that event. 

 

National Road Relays are coming up in Christchurch on 3 Oct 

It is the 75th anniversary and it is a blast running from the edge of town over the Port Hills to Akaroa.  We have accommodation lined up but the places are not unlimited -- contact Brian Rusbridge Brian.Rusbridge@nzct.org.nz to sort things out. Start looking for flights now - there is as much competition in finding the cheapest flight as there is in the race itself!
