Next events: Philp Shield and Perston Baton Relay 6 Sep 2012.

The final two races for the year (before the national road relay champs) are two fun club races suitable for everybody.

This Saturday (8th September) we have the Philp Shield club race. This road race is a team event (but not a relay), with the team with the best results over all finishers taking home the Shield. Each runner does 1 lap, 2 laps or 3 laps of the course (depending on your age and ability), with the 3 lap version being 5km. Meet at the clubrooms at the normal time of 1.45pm, so we can be put into teams before heading over to the start and finish line at West Park School.

There is also afternoon tea afterwards, so please remember to bring a plate.

Two weeks later (22nd September) we have our final club event, the Perston Baton Relay out at Karori Park. This is a cross country race with a 2 or 3km circuit around the park and includes some of the hill up the back. Each team member will be given 1, 2 or 3 laps. Because this race takes a bit longer, please meet at the earlier time of 12.30 (at the Pavilion) to be put in a team; we aim for a 1pm start. Don't forget to bring sun cream because this is usually a warm and sunny event!

For the seniors and masters, these are the last two club races that count towards the club champion trophy -- you must do each race to be in the running!

These are great sharpening races for those travelling to the national road relay at the beginning of October.

And lastly, don't forget to wear your correct uniforms - race singlet and plain black shorts!
