Club Cross Country Championships - 28 July 24 Jul 2012.

This Saturday are our the club cross country championship races, held out at Ohariu Valley (Boom Rock Road), at the same venue as the Grand Memorial race last month.

This is the race that has more trophies and certificates up for grabs than any other race. There are trophies for the winner of each grade (each of the boys and girls 9, 11, 13 and 15 grades, junior men and women 17 and 19 grades, senior men and women, masters women 35, masters men 40, and masters men and women 50), and certificates for placegetters.

The race is also a sealed handicap - our club handicapper has a list of expected times for each club member, which nobody else knows. The handicap winner in each grade is whoever beats their handicap time by the greatest margin (except the race winner, who can't be the handicap winner as well).

For the seniors and masters, the race also counts towards the Club Champion trophy, for the best overall placings in five club races.

The course is different from the Grand Memorial - each lap is slightly longer (2.5km), has fewer stream crossing but includes a hill. We can't guarantee it'll include a dead sheep hurdle like last time though. With a week of rain forecast, the course will be slippery - please make sure you have spikes or shoes with a bit of grip.

Please wear your club uniform - Olympic singlet and plain black shorts.

Race 1, 1.30pm: M19, M17, M40 - 7.5km (3 full laps); SM - 10km (4 full laps);
