Preselection for National Championships 2012
Congratulations. You have been selected to represent Wellington in both the Cross Country Championships and the Road Championships for this year.
This years championships are as follows:
Cross Country is in Hamilton on Sat 4th August.
Road is in Wellington on Sat 1st September.
There will be a subsidy available to all athletes for championships outside the Wellington province, covering one nights accommodation and local transport costs.
In order to help our better athletes and their coaches plan their competitions for this year, we have brought forward the selection procedure for a number of our athletes, so that you can plan your training in the knowledge that you have already been selected for the Wellington team, and can also take advantage of cheaper travel options to get to these meetings.
For your information, the team managers flights to Hamilton arrive in Auckland at 1pm on the Friday and depart from Auckland at midday Sunday for the XC Champs. Rental vehicles will be available for transport to and from Hamilton.
If you find flights too expensive on the Saturday night, you may prefer to stay another night and return on Sunday. In this case, the extra nights accommodation will be at your expense.
ACTION REQUIRED FROM YOU
1. Please confirm to the Team Manager that you intend to compete in these championships.
2. For the XC, please book your flights and advise the team manager (Don Dalgliesh ph 4739414 or email dondalgliesh@xtra.co.nz) the details of your flights, and if you intend to stay with the team, as soon as possible.
In addition, you will need to compete in the relative Wellington championships and achieve the guideline performance set for your grade.
3. Remember that you must lodge your entry for each championship directly with Athletics New Zealand, and this will be refunded to you, via your club, after the championships.
If you have any questions, please contact Don Dalgliesh on 4739414 or Graham Tattersall on 4780278.
