Performance of the Day Awards 26 May 2010.

After each race, we present "Performance of the Day" awards to those who have performed outstandingly at that race. This year we have increased the number of awards for each race to four: male juniors, female juniors, men (senior plus masters) and women (senior plus masters). These awards are not necessarily for the best results; often they are presented to an individual who performs above expectation.

Here are the results of the first three races that were presented at the club day on the 15 May:

MAIDEN AND PERSTON

  • George Dorrington – winning the junior race overall at the Maiden and Perston
  • Michaela Jenner – finished 2nd female in the Maiden Race and beat her handicap time by 30 seconds
  • Janet Dobbie – 2nd fastest masters women in Maiden Race, beating her handicap time
  • Tim Horne – for fastest time in the Maiden Race.

SHAW BATON

  • Eden Cruise – member of winning 11 and under team, recorded fastest lap time of 8:01 for his age group
  • Maddy Wilson – recorded fastest time in her age group of 11 and under. The 11 and under girls team finished 2nd overall for age group
  • Sherynne Beeby – fastest lap in Olympic masters women team
  • Pete Jelley – for second fastest masters men lap time in his first masters comeback race.

UNIVERSITY RELAYS

  • Nick Hann – running the fastest time for the Olympic Junior Men’s A team
  • Sophie Pepperell – for running a brilliant last lap for the Junior Women’s team in an exciting finish against two very good runners from Scottish (Ariana Harper) and Wellington (Jean Kozniak), finishing with a time of 15:42, and gold for the junior women’s team
  • Tineke Hooft – for running a brilliant lap time, helping masters women's team to come 2nd in grade
  • Mike Waterman – for fastest Olympic lap time and for gaining a place for the masters men team in the last few minutes of the race.

Performance of the day awards for the Vosseler Shield will be presented at the clubrooms after the Grand Memorial race this Saturday.
