World Mountain Trophy 2003 Update 12 Sep 2003.
New Zealand will be looking for success on and off the hill
when the world mountain running championships are held in Alaska next
weekend. The New Zealand contingent for the September 21-22 races leaves
today with the year 2005 in their minds as much as their racing in
Alaska. New Zealand is one of two confirmed bidders to host the 2005 event,
with Manchester thought to be the other. A course on Wellington's Mt
Victoria will host the racing if the Kiwis win over about 50 delegates on
September 20. Wellington bid chairman Martin Macdonald, also team manager,
was confident of success. "We've got a very financially secure bid. I'm
confident because of the total package we're offering - we've left no stone
