Arthur Klap of the Olympic Harrier Club in Wellington made the News Years Honours list having been awarded a MNZM (Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit) for services to sport.

Arthur was the Event Director of the very successful 2005 World Mountain Running Championships in Wellington, one of many very successful events he has directed over the years, including 2 World Triathlon Championships - Wellington 1994 and Queenstown 2003. Arthur was one of the original Team Managers for the NZ Mountain Running Team and took a team to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he was instrumental in having Juniors considered and included in NZ teams.
