Jess and Tim 1st in their races

We are very pleased with the efforts of Olympic athletes at the Wellington Zone Interschool Primary and Intermediate Champs held at Grenada North yesterday. All athletes competing were placed in the first five or 10 in their individual zones, so these were the top kids in their age group from the Eastern, Western, Northern and Tawa Zones.

Joey Kells and Aaron Lynch also ran in their respective year races, not sure how they went.

Pretty pleasing to see so many Olympic kids do so well. Not bad getting four firsts out of 10 spots available!

The distances were:
  • 1km for the year 4s
  • 1.6km for the year 5 and 6s
  • 2km for the year 7 and 8s
Top achievers have now been invited for the regional primary school cross country event, to be held at Trentham Memorial Park on Tuesday 26 June (postponement day Thursday 28 June).

Alex Hooft was also first in his zone (year 8 boys - Porirua), his race was held at Battle Hill farm recently. However, he is not able to participate in the regional event as he will be overseas.
