Record for Wakelin in Wainuiomata 13 Jul 2003.
Mike Wakelin continued his good form on the mountains with a good win at the Wainuiomata Mountain Fun Run today. In taking the win Mike set a new course record of 49:26 comfortably breaking Wayne Atkin's 6 year old record of 49:38. Local Wainuiomata Club runner Sean Butler took second place, some 5 minutes later. "I was supposed to be taking it easy today" Sean said after the race.
The weather conditions were conducive to good times today and Carline McDonald also set a women's course record. Not to be out done the walkers also conquered the muddy and slippery track, Peter Baillie breaking his own course record in the walk.
