Arthur Klap wins Tourism Industry Award 24 Aug 2006.
I have just returned from the Tourism Industry Awards having represented Arthur & Lynne Klap - of Sports Impact, who were a finalist in the Tourism Innovation Category - sub section Innovation in Events, Meetings, and Incentives, for the WMRA World Mountain Running Trophy 2005. They were up against Williment Travel Group in conjunction with the New Zealand Rugby Union for the 2005 British and Irish Lions rugby tour.
Arthur WON that sub-category and then went on to WIN the overall Innovation Award against two other categories, Innovation in E-Commerce and New Technology and Innovation in Eco-Tourism.
Needless to say the sport of Athletics in Wellington and its clubs can be very proud of the part they had to play in the success of the event and particularly for members of the Olympic Club who made significant contributions in many ways leading up to and on the day of the event.
I represented Arthur due to the fact he is involved in another World Championship event in Rotorua this week, namely the Mountain Biking World Champs. I telephoned Arthur to pass on the good news and there was considerable cheering and whooping and hollering, down the phone back to me. No doubt there will be some celebrations going on in Rotorua tonight and tomorrow. Arthur and his wife Lynne, who run Sports Impact, have won themselves a trip to Queenstown among other prizes.
