Results from the NZSSCC held in Tauranga 17/6/06

On a testing course made slippery by overnight rain some good results from our Olympic runners.

In the Junior boys Lachlan Rushbridge had a good run finishing strongly to come in 26th out of the 174 starters.

Samara Sheppard continued the good form to come 6th in the senior girls. A great run for her 1st year in this grade. Samara battled with the leaders in the early stages. 190 competitors competed in this event.

Olympic had 2 competitors in the Snr boys. Brendon Blacklaws ran well for 8th in a very strong field of 213 competitors. Andrew Crowley came 100th.

After the event Samara and Brendon were both named the New Zealand Secondary Cross Country team. Although no trip is planned for these teams it does enable them to get some financial assistance if competing overseas in any other Athletics NZ representative team.
