Life Member Passes Away 5 Apr 2006.
With sadness I must inform the members that a past member Les Smith passed away Monday night.
Les was awarded Life Membership in 1987 and was present at the Opening Day a couple of weeks ago.
Here is what is recorded in the club's 75th Jubilee Publication - '75 Years Down the Track';
"L.C.("Les") Smith. - 1987 - Joined the club in 1947. A regular competitor (through to) 1953 who came back to the Club in later years as his sons, (Derek, Gary and Shane), became involved in the sport. A long serving Committee member and a regular race day official at both Club and Inter-Club events, one of those unsung heroes to whom competitors owe so much. His contribution goes far beyond these things, he has found other ways to help the Club and continues to do so."
