Saturday, 4 Jun 2005, 14:00: Peter Tearle Walking Race×
Scottish is conducting the Peter Tearle Walking race this Saturday 4 June. It is a 6 Km handicap race, unjudged, over four laps. The entry fee is $2.
The race starts at the corner of Medway and Derwent Streets in Island Bay, next to the New World Supermarket. We need to start promptly at 2.00 pm so everyone needs to be at the start and registered by 1.45 pm. It is a time handicap so the slower walkers start and the faster walkers go off last.
Scottish members do not need to contact me, as you will be automatically given a handicap.
I would appreciate it if members of other clubs who are likely to attend could contact me with names and information on your last 6 km race, or a recent 5 km or 10 km time on which I can base my handicaps. Email back to me or phone 977 8990.
The prizegiving will be straight after the race. Then everyone is invited to come back to the Scottish Clubhouse for afternoon tea. Scottish is hosting Capital Runners Club, and we are putting on the food for the afternoon.
I look forward to seeing you this Saturday, but if you can't make it please pass on our invitation to others. A reminder that it is not judged, BUT obvious "joggers" will be "penalised"!

Saturday, 18 Jun 2005, 20:00: Taranaki Walks Weekend×
Taranaki Racewalking Club based in New Plymouth are holding their annual walks weekend
Venue: New Plymouth on 18th/19th June.
Included in their programme is an event for new-comers to the world of competitive walking which will be accompanied by coaching sessions.
This is a good chance for those not going to the NI cross country champs at Taupo to come and have a look at racewalking. You may find that this is where your competitive future lies.
You may even find that you have much more potential as a walker than as a runner.
You will be very welcome. Any inquiries can be addressed to Tony Burrell at
