Saturday, 8 May 2010, 14:00: University Relays (interclub event)×
Inter-club cross country relay race. Walk & Walking races from venue.
Venue: QEII Park, McKay’s Crossing 2010 details: (some details, particularly times and ages for youngsters' race, have changed)
Details:
The Whittaker's chocolate walk - Starts at 12 noon on the road in front of the field, 6km ($2 per walker entry fee will be collected at the start)
The Youngsters' race - open to athletes 13 years and under (this is a change - previously 16 and under). There are now three start times: boys and girls 9 and under: 1.30; boys and girls 11 and under: 1.50; boys and girls 13 and under: 2.10. Distance is 2km over a shortened lap of the main relay course. Boys and girls start together. Age for youngsters' race is as on day of event.
The University Relay - 6 grades; Men's Under 20 years; Women's Under 20 years; Men's Open; Women's Open; Men's Vet (40 plus); Women's Vet (35 plus). Relay teams comprise of 4 persons, approx 3.5km laps. Starts at 2.30pm with all grades to start together.
No dogs: Dogs (loose, on leads, in cars) are not allowed on the property as it is a working farm. Please leave your canines at home.
This is a great 5-lap relay race, traditionally for the more senior of members of the club. Its mostly on flat grass at Trentham Memorial Park (saves our somewhat older joints a bit).
Categories/prizes for men, women, mixed, teams with aggregate ages of 250 and 300 or more.
There is a walkers event too which covers 3 laps of the 4k course as opposed to 5 for runners.
This year the event has a ‘pre-vet’ category which allows teams to have a member in the 30-34 yr age group and also an open category for teams with members less than 30 yrs of age. So basically it’s now an all comers event. Entries need to be in by May 5th.
