Wellington Cross Country Championships, Grenada North Park Sunday, 9 July 2017

Harriers Wellington inter-club event

For the second year, this event was based at Grenada North Park, with U15 and above grades coming under the banner of Athletics Wellington championships, and the younger grades being part of the Kids' Cross Country Series. Also like last year, seniors and masters also had the choice of running either the short course (5km) or long course (10km) races. Or both.

Wellington had seen very little rain in the week leading up to this event, so the course was only half boggy. (Until the last race when is rained quite heavily, churning up the course significantly.)

Olympic had 13 medal winners:

  • Firsts to Esther George (SW short course), Deb Platts-Fowler (W40 short course), Michaela Walker (WU20) and Max O'Kane (M60 long course)
  • Seconds to Mike Waterman (M40 short course) and Jan Sheppard (W50 long course)
  • Thirds to Jessica Hughes (GU15), Will Anthony (BU15), Nicola Hankinson (SW short course), Michelle Van Looy (W40 short course), Jean Skilton (W60 short course), Kevin Pugh (M40 short course), Amelia Harris (WU20).
