Action Replay: Grand Memorial II 2 Jun 2016.

Grand Memorial, Boom Rock Road, Ohariu - Sat 4 June, first race 1:30pm

Last week was a wash out, but the forecast for this week looks awesome!  Unfortunately our Hutt Valley cousins can't join this week as they have other commitments, but we look forward to seeing as many past members as can make it.   To get there, pop over the hill from J'ville then take the right turn at the Pony club - straight on for a couple of km to find Boom Rock Road on the left, and it is just 100 m or so down there.   It is a challenging course with multiple stream crossings and the infamous bog down the end.  Might not be the race for your new white sandshoes...

  •     1:30 Boys and Girls 9 and under 1 km scratch race;  Boys and Girls 13 and under 2 km scratch race
  •     ~2 pm main races begin their staggered starts:  Walkers; Senior Women, Masters Women, Junior Women (W16 & W 19), Junior Men (M16 & M19) (4km open handicap); Senior Men & Masters Men (8km open handicap)

Helpers are needed to set out the course -- would be nice to not see the same people doing it.  11:00 at the Club to pick up things, or 11:30 at the course.   Text Rob  (027 2326377) if you can help.

After the race we repair back to the clubrooms for a shared afternoon tea -- more munchies to go around this time because Hutt Valley can't make it.

Park Run Pacing...8am Bottomley Park, Porirua, before the Grand Memorial

Olympic has been fostering our ties with the Porirua Park Run.  This week some of our members are serving as pace setters to help Park Runners reach PBs for the 5km course.  It would be good to see a good bunch of other Olympic people there in their club gear to help make a big impression.  For details and to sign up if you haven't before (it is free) visit: https://www.parkrun.co.nz/porirua/

Heads up - Club Champs now combined with Dorne Cup - Sat 11 June

Logistics mean it is not feasible to run the Club Champs together with the Wellington Cross country Champs.  So in a change to the published syllabus they will now be held together with the Dorne cup at Trentham.  Full details on the times and course are here: http://www.athleticswellington.org.nz/News/dorne-cup-saturday-11-june-time-to-enter-online-if-you-havent-already

If you signed up for all four Wellington Athletics races when the Vosseler was on you are all set to go -- if not, you need to register your entry at this link: https://eventdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?&EventDesqID=18930.   Note you must be registered as a Club member (which involves paying your membership!)

Membership subs were due 1 May...

Hopefully there are not too many stragglers, but if you are one of them you can do it online here:  https://memberdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=main&OrgID=10499

If you are signing up 3 or more members we offer discounts - 20% for 3 and 25% or 4 or more from the same family living in the same house. Note, this doesn't apply to associate or supporter adult memberships, or under 7s (who get free membership this winter). Our online system doesn't handle the discounts very well, so contact Megan to sort out your payment (treasurer@olympicharriers.org.nz or 0211176826).
