Helter skelter -- it is the Philp Shield 6 Sep 2017; updated 7 Sep 2017.

Philp Shield,  Alex Moore, Sat 9 September, 1:45pm

The second to last race of the season is a classic -- organised chaos as teams run around  the road outside Alex Moore with each member doing a different distance.  No distance is longer than about 5km so over and done with in good time so people can all enjoy a bite to eat in the clubrooms afterwards.  Please bring a plate.

There are still one or two trophies out there so please bring them in.  There was a great team effort last week to sort out most of the cups but we need those last few back.

Track and Field season starts in one month!
This summer, the Newtown Park track is being replaced. The track will be out of action from Monday 4
December through till the Capital Classic on the 19th of January. (If it is ready prior to that date we
will advise.) Alternative venues will be used, including the Basin Reserve for the Scottish Night of Miles.

Last chance for Athletics New Zealand Road Relays at Rotorua, 30 Sept

Register at  https://tinyurl.com/RoadRelays18. The new bit of news is that some people are thinking about what sort of Sunday run we could do -- most times it is a quick tour around where we are staying but no reason why it shouldn't be  somewhere on the way back.  Nic Hankinson is even wondering about extending things by a day and trying to run Waikaremoana...  Get you thinking caps on and contribute to the options!

Social Contacts

  • There are a couple of active Facebook pages associated with the club.  If memory serves you need to be accepted to get access but that is not a big hassle.  A variety of semi organised runs at different levels, encouragement for summer track athletes, and celebrations of current (and some past) performances all turn up regularly.
