Be there or be square 20 Jul 2017.

Club Champs, Boom Rock Road, Ohariu, Sat 22

We are returning to where club champs were held back in the day.  The course will be different from the Grand Memorial, based around 2 km loops that will include a bit of a hill and fewer streams. There is a trophy in each age group for both the winner and handicap winner, plus second and third get recorded with certificates - so it's all on!
Please bring a plate for the afternoon tea at the clubrooms after the races.

Be aware there is no parking at the Pony Club this time due to wet ground, so parking is on the road - take care as it is narrow in places.  Start times and grades are:

1:30 pm :  Boys and girls, U19 U17 and U15 -- 4km

                Boys and girls, U13 U11              -- 2km

2:20 pm : Boys and girls U9 -- 1.6km

               Boys and Girls U7 --  800m

2:40 pm : Senior Men                                       --  8km

                Senior Women, Masters Men 40,50,60 -- 6km

                Masters Women 40,50,60                  -- 6km

We will need helpers to set up.  Please let Rob know (sharon.rob@xtra.co.nz) if you can assist - either 10:30 at the club or 11:00 at the venue.

Well done Junior Runners

At the Committee meeting this week we noted the good performances by junior runners at their National Secondary Schools Champs during June.  See http://www.olympicharriers.nz/results/event.php?eid=1258 for the full set of results

The adults are off to their Cross Country Nationals on 30 June.

Bays Relays and Death of Disco - 12 August

The Bays Relay is on the horizon, and as well as the race itself we will have a social event at the club in the evening.  Exact details are to be worked out, but an 80's themed pot luck dinner is the main thrust.  Start going through those bottom drawers now for your costumes.

Athletic New Zealand Road Relays are coming

30th September is not as far away as you might think, and really Rotorua isn't that far to travel either.  Keep it in mind!
Registration details and formation of teams is just around the corner.

Social Contacts

  • There are a couple of active Facebook pages associated with the club.  If memory serves you need to be accepted to get access but that is not a big hassle.  A variety of semi organised runs at different levels, encouragement for summer track athletes, and celebrations of current (and some past) performances all turn up regularly.
